A group of friend of mine were out during the weekend talking cock. You know la guys just love to talked cock from small tiny stuff till national issues and policy, Its in the trait of all men. Anyway, as we were talking on the subject of contractors, hospital and warranty and etc, Dr.Y told me he isn't surprised. The hospital he is working in is in deplorable state though the hospital is just less than 5 yrs old.
The ceiling fell off in his A&E room and what the contractor did was re-installed back with new ceiling. However, according to my friend there is a leak/drip in the water pipe system which make the ceiling weak and hence fall off. The contractor is not finding the cause of the ceiling damage but instead just replaced it every few months. This had been going on since day 1.
He gave many example and highlighted many new areas which is falling apart. With this we all weren't surprised that Ampang Hospital wasn't stable and its condition falling apart. Fungus infection and etc are just a normal thing in every new hospital nowadays. Further to that the contractor gave a warranty coverage of only 2 yrs. Therefore, there will try to stretch and do some minor counter-measure, plaster and etc to drag and drag till the warranty period expire. If he wasn't mistaken he told us that most of the problematic hospital are built by a major top construction company and usually split according to area during the award by the G. This so called famous and well known construction company has many project in India building highway, bridges and utilities.
This is the most notable "Malaysia Boleh" spirit where everything can be done but at a far lower quality and shorter schedule.
