IPhone

Last Sat I got myself holding on to the latest craze gadget in the US. It was an Apple IPHONE. I knew about it and had thought it was overly hype and with big marketing strategy and etc. Nevertheless, when my friend Grace show it to me, I was surprised by its elegant finishing.....gloss mirror finishing. Something like Samsung but which has more class cause its got a huge large LCD screen on it. What I like most about it is its touch screen features. It was smooth, responsive and quick. Not like most of the PDA's I have seen before which require a pen to make pin point accurate movement for responsiveness. I could just zoom in on a pic or zoom out with just 2 finger moving simultaneously inward or outward. The screen colour and pics were sharp. There doesn't seem to be any time lag at all on its OS system. For example when you call up an application and viewing a huge amount of photos. The built in 8GB flash hard disk was very quick.

She told me it only cost USD350 without any state tax. If you include state taxes which vary from states to states then it would come to about USD400. With the current exchange rate of 3.2 only, that is about RM 1280 for a suave Apple product. That's not a bad bargain. In fact I think its really cheap compare with what people are selling here under black market. If not mistaken I think it started out at RM3000 but then now you could get it at RM2200 including unlocking and etc. Still it's no way close to US prices.

This is my must have gadget and my next hand phone replacement. Therefore just need to wait either for wifey hand phone to fail or my own phone before I have a real good reason to make the splurge. Heheheheh. I hope Apple would bring in the phone here. However, don't think they will offered it as low as RM 1200 considering we are in the "land of overprice." Overprice car, overprice house, overprice hp, overprice commodity and etc.

A Road Pave With Gold

Everyday while I go to work, I use the same road whereby I need to pass many factories. However, for the past few months the road condition was very bad with pot holes and crack here and there. Driving your car on the road is like driving a jeep under off-road terrain condition. Since I wasn't driving my 4WD I had to go slow with my Harley. You know what it means for guys with heavy equipment and Harley. Its so frustrating having to cruise like a scooter when u can fly at the speed of sound.
Moving on to another location .......a middle-class area whereby I have been using it everyday, the condition of the road is as bad as the ones in front of the factories. Winding forward to present day, after the announcement of GE2008 suddenly the road has been pave with gold. I mean the road is silky smooth.......smooth as chocolate. No pot holes, no rugged terrain, no earthquake like crack and etc.
However, the road in the middle-class area is still littered with pot holes and etc. It is pretty obvious that there is some differences when it comes to GE. This is the time of the year when the genie is release from the bottle. All wishes of the people would be fulfilled. But beware cause this would last for only a few weeks. After that when the genie is back into the bottle, all wishes would only fall on deaf ears. Perhaps the genie can even take back whatever was given too.
Didn't you read about those poor veggie farmers in Perak a week back. All of a sudden co-incident or whatever you call it, they are all getting their lease extended for another 30yrs. I could see many happy faces and all the politician were clamouring for marketing leverages in the paper. I was thinking hard and loud............but isn't it only a short and temporary measure. After 30yrs what happen ? They are not going to get their grant for the land. After more than 50yrs ....since independence day and working on the land harvesting veggie and fruits, the land still doesn't below to them. At the end of it what do they have. Alright, if you could make lots of money from this industry and then upgrade the life of your family especially the kids, then I am grateful for the genie. However, the way I see it is......after 50yrs of working on the land, most of them are still living under the poverty condition. Some of their kids are taking over their parents trade and thus are 2 or 3 rd generation farmers.
Being a farmer isn't so lucrative unless you are a corporation and have the backing of a huge conglomerate and doing it in big ways. Hydroponics and organic farm are mushrooming but their popularity is still not as wide as the traditional method. Furthermore it cost more.
It's real apathy. You can easily and systematically manipulate human so easily with money. You can't blame them either cause if I am in their position its still a solution and its better than nothing. At least they wouldn't be around after the 30 yrs lease expired. What you say ?
