A Review of Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows

I was basically glue to my chair in front of my computer for the past few days trying to finish the book. You see I don't have the actual booked but rather the e-book version which has many spelling mistake and was not proof read by anyone at all. Nevertheless, I was really glad and appreciate the person who had taken the time to type out the whole book which was approximately 638 pages long. It was readable and wasn't very bad at all. I could understand the essence of the story and every sentence. This is the first book that I had the patience and the interest to read all completely in 1 week time. When I read 1492 (the stories about Chinese sailor traveling the world earlier than Christopher Columbus and etc) I didn't quite finished the book. I felt asleep half-way through the book and loss any interest thereafter.

This Deathly Hallows is totally different. I felt in love with the suspense, the character and above all the curiosity of wanting to know whether Harry Potter did died at the end. I didn't have much time to read at home and neither was I able to read non stop without being abruptly interrupted here and there. I make the most of my time available excluding weekend and after slightly more than a week; I manage to complete the book. Well, not complete fully cause I skip the last chapter or epilogue cause I knew the ending already. Furthermore the epilogue was just about happy stories and on how Harry and his sidekicks live happily ever after for many many years. Later when I go through some of the online review of other people, everybody had the same opinion that the epilogue was totally anti-climax and not necessary.

After finishing the book I was having a bit of a discussion with a friend who had finished it too. We were surprised and I found out later that many fans were of the same opinion that it was a wee little bit confusing and not making senses at all. For example the part where Harry came back alive. Was it because he has obtained all 3 Hallows and therefore obtained the power of "Master of Death"? Or was it because Voldemort's wand was the elder wand and hence couldn't kill Harry since it recognizes Harry as the rightful master? The conversation between Harry and Dumbledore at the train station was a bit flimsy and anti-climax for me too. Was it only Harry's dream or was it really happening. Since this was a book about wizardry and spells, I think many things are left to your own imagination and creativity. There is no logical explanation or any common sense of all the actions and scenes which unfolded. Nevertheless, I have to give Rowling some credit for being able to pull it all off since there are so many expectation and anticipation around the world.

I give this book an 8/10 points and recommend it to anyone who find reading fiction interesting. Unfortunately, this book is best read together with part 6 of the series since many of the stories and subject ex:Hocruxes and etc are related to previous book. I am no die hard fan of this series. In fact I have never read any of Rowling's books prior to this. As for the movies I had only watched 2 out of its 5 releases so far and have no plans to see "Order of the Phoenix" because many had told me it was disappointing.

Portability

I wrote about this about a year ago and I felt this LKY – Minister was very good and deserve a pat on the back cause he has been very vocal and seen to be talking logic and common sense. He told everbody that portability is going to be implemented when and when. Half a year time and then another year gone by, target passes there is still no sign of portability being implemented. The reason I thought about this was because he make another smart and vocal statement about WIMAX and when it is going to be implemented.

If you do a search on the net or our local online news portal, I am sure you can find lots of his comment with regard to these 2 topic. He make promises of year end delivery of portability than WIMAX and later on backtracked his statement with another year end target. So which of which statement from his horse mounth is worth taking as solid believeable statement. I always tell my kids don't make empty promises and lied about things more than once. The first time you lied, people wil give you the benefit of the doubt. 2 nd time people will be wary and on the 3rd time people knows you had a loud mouth. I am disappointed with him. I thought he was different since he seem genuinely intelligent and smart. I guess all politician are just pigs trying to portray that they are angel and naïve. LKY is no exemption. He talks louder than his brain size  He has been giving me and many tech savy people false hope. I am looking forward to portability and WIMAX implementation for ages and yet it still haven't taken off. It is still in infancy and might died a still born project, an idea, an aspiration never realized.

Now the question is why he who is having so much power and authority can't make a change or he doesn't want  to ?
