Well, its the last Mon morning before the CNY. Not a great day to start the day off. Got to know that one of my new neighbour just has his house broken into. Wasn't surprise cause its a new area and there are lots of construction work going on around the whole place. Therefore you can see many foreign worker as well as illegal immigrant moving around the place quite a lot. My immediate response was to ask whether the house occupant was safe. It is all very scary considering the fact that you have cases of break-in in the paper everyday leading/escalating to murder and etc. Fortunately, the losses were minimum and he didn't move in all his furniture and everything else yet.
What was more surprising to hear was that the thief/robber came through the roof with the use of water hose as a rope. He made a police report but as usual you don't expect them to apprehend the thief/robber nor come close to solving the case. They just treat this as a minor passing off case. To add salt to the wound, the police often give passing remark that it is normal.
I thought to myself , what a day to start off................I mean hearing all this bad news. Though doesn't directly involve myself, I do really hope everybody to be happy and the world we live in would be better and peaceful. The second news of the day that I got to know was that a close colleague of mine had her house broken in on the weekend as well. To be precise on a Sat evening. She told me her family had gone out on the evening to Carrefour SJ at around 6.00pm and when they reach home by 10.00pm they found a huge hole on the roof and the whole house ransack. She had loss some cash, notebooks and etc. Funny part was she was just talking about it last Fri. One of her friends had warn her before hand and ask her to be extra careful and to look out for a "Black Perdana" with suspicion looking character.
We told her, her house should be ok since she had stay there for more than 8 yrs already. In addition her terrace house is located in the middle of the row. Of all the houses and etc, there was no way that the thief/robber could have targeted her house. it would be ........near impossible........very low probability. Unfortunately, I have to eat my words for it. In Malaysia, you can never say never nor no. With an immigration population of around 1.5million, and economy gap widening each year, anything can happen. By that I mean no matter if you are an easy target or not.............there's always a possibility you can be rob even in broad daylight.
Talking about this...........let me elaborate and divert a little. A case in point which I had wanted to talk about but kept differing. The girl in S.Petani that was rape and murder. My friend and I are still asking and trying to figure out what trigger this people to commit this kind of hideous act. I mean if its sex that they want, then go and pay for it. I'm sure they can find lots of kinky stuff and woman to satisfy their fantasy. Thailand is just a stone throw away and don't think it cost much either. So why on earth are they so dump, stupid and cruel. Is it education, social or just that they had gone bonkers and on the verge of going to T.Rambutan ???? Perhaps they are crazy people and just that the authorities didn't manage to trace them and send them to the Crazy Hospital yet. So many un-answer and question still lingers on..........................
